Have you seen these? They are called the "special response team". They appear to be A blacked ouyt version of the M-16. Anyone got one? Handled them?

I haven't heard of a "Special Response Team" knife but I have seen and handled the HRE or "High Risk Environment" knives that sound similar to what you are referring. Here's a description:

New for 2000 are the Law Enforcement and Military models. Both models feature a black Teflon® coated blade. The Law Enforcement model has Navy Blue colored handles and the Military models have Olive Drab colored handles.

For a picture of these you can go to Skyland's and check 'em out.

If in fact these are the knives you are referring to, then I can say that overall they are pretty cool. I like the dark blue one for it's looks and quality I've come to know with CRKT knives. The only thing I dislike is the actual printing of the words "High Risk Environment" on the blades. I've always felt that wording like that is gimmicky and if something is worthwhile or specialized, it doesn't have to advertise the fact on it's shirtsleeve. I'd reconsider getting one if those words weren't on it, oh hell, I might get one anyway!

Nonbox,

Skylands I believe has them in stock right now. I was in a mall knife store in So. California last week and they already had them in stock--that's how I was able to actually handle one.

I must say again, the black blade and the dark blue scales just look outstanding. Definitely on my wish list (just have to get over the wording on the blade).

Mine will be here on Thursday and I will have a very limited amount....These are not listed on my site. I will have spearpoints & tanto's in serrated(no plains made) and only the military version in the Large model. These are way cool.
