Decided to buy a fixed blade that I could carry in the glove box of my new SUV. Did not want to use one of my nicer knives from my collection and wanted something that was well designed, "OK" steel and comfortable to use, and somewhat inexpensive. I did not want to purchase an inexpensive folder. I also did not want something that I was concerned about scratching up or leaving it laying around.

I purchased one of the CRKT Steve Ryan Plan B fixed blades. It has been a while since I have purchased one of CRKT's newer knives. This knife is a lot of knife for the money. A very handy shape and overall much more of a usable fixed blade than I expected. I also like the very small well designed sheath.

To anyone needing an inexpensive fixed blade knife: check this one out.

Jayharley,
Got mine back in January, and I too love this knife. Did you get yours with or without serrations. I have the plane edge in the standard grey steel, but it was a tough choice not to get the black coated serrated version. Either way it's a great little knife. I carry it once in a while when I'm walking to campus late at night, it's really comfortable, and since the blade is relatively short I'm certain its legal.

I got serrations without the black finish.

Be very careful in assuming what is legal on any campus any longer. I hear the rules on any campus are very tight. Don't presume you have the same rights on campus that you might have in general society. Just my "opinion".

Yup, gotta luv 'em. I use mine as a neck knife.

I just got mine yesterday off another member on the buy/sell board. I love the handle, so much better than the Stiff Kiss, and think steel stock too. Too heavy for a necker, but a real nice small fixed blade. I also like the clip on sheath, you can just clip it on/off very easily without removing a belt, etc.

Jo, the PlanB is great,
i like the version with polished blade,
ebony handles and mosaik pins:

Guess who made this?

:D

Hey bigbore, would you be kind enough to tell me how you did those handles and pins. I just got the plan B for x-mas from my g/f. I like the handles from the factory but maybe some blue-black g10 would make a nice appearance. Thanks man. I'm sure the handles wouldn't be that much of a problem but I'm clueless about the pins. Simple pins are fine too, nothing to elaborate, just enough to do the job.

The Plan B is a great little knife! I have owned one since they first came out and used it a LOT. The steel takes a pretty mean edge, but doesn't hold it as long as some others I've used. It is a really good knife to knock around, store anywhere, cut anything, carry anywhere, etc. Hell, I bought mine for $18 at a gun show, so I have NO worries about scuffing it all up or losing it, so it gets used hard and carried often.
