I'm interested in purchasing the CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S. The reasons why I'm interested in this knife is because it is a fixed tanto blade, and it comes with a sheath system that allows the knife to be carried at the small of your back. Does anyone know how reliable the sheath system is? If you could recommend this knife or any other similar knives, that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I believe this to be a pretty good knife for your needs...sheath is fairly reliable(i carry upside-down around neck) but a bit more difficult to draw due to retention. you will get used to it, and it is not a very difficult venture by most means.

for the price, it is a good piece of steel. ive had one since it came out, and still carry it in the woods with me. as one of many, of course =)

Mrbofus,

I had a CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S. but gave it away as I found it rather cumbersome for my own needs. I found that a folder was easier to carry.

That said, it ain't half bad for such an inexpensive skeleton knife; as long as you wrap the bare handle properly.

I would go for the modified drop point tip over the tanto since I find the tanto's profile a bit thick. The MDP is much more versatile.

The sheath is basic molded kydex with both a belt strap, and a clip. The knife is held in place with a detent. It takes a snug pull to yank out the blade.

Although CRKT would not appreciate it and I'm not suggesting you should try it with a brand new warrantied knife, I think the Stiff KISS would make an "okay" throwing knife; although I don't know how the steel would hold up. It looks as if it could be thrown at short distances into soft wood, or cork targets. There are slots in the handle where one could insert "jerry rigged" weights to control the spin of the knife. However, I'm no knife throwing expert, and I'm not encouraging you to use the Stiff KISS in such a way. Just an observation

Actually the Stiff KISS makes a pretty nice thrower. They to take the abuse pretty well, and they are cheap enough to replace if you loose or break it.

Have it.

Carry it - S.O.B.

I got it as my first experience with a tanto blade. It's robust enough for what you pay. The sheath is strong and hugs the blade well. As Full Tang Clan said, wrap the handle. I did with parachute cord. It makes it nice to handle. Enjoy!

yep.great knives,i have 2 of em.
i have one that i didnt wrap and one that i did. the wrapped one is MUCH more comfortable wrapped.

Actually, CRKT's sheaths are Zytel, not Kydex. Not bad knives however.

For comperable price and steel check out an Arclite from http://www.onestopknifeshop.com

more comfy in my opinion, and its Kydex sheath accepts a belt attachment from Camillus.

You could put nacho cheese sauce on it...

i have two of them and i found them valuable, until i decidet to take away the paracord from one of them and i found small spots of rust.Maybe it's me, or maybe the fact that carrying them close to the body and it's perspiration does not good.I'd say buy them, because both are valuable knives(don't bother with serrations, though), but find a way to protect the handle before wrapping it into paracord.

I have enjoyed mine, and it seems to be worth the $20.00 I paid for it. It has the clip blade with a partial serrated blade and works well enough to keep in the console of my Jeep.
