I am not a fan of Columbia River normally but....the Natual has bone scales, jimping on the back spacer and its a frame lock!!! ( Yeah I know there is bone over it but its the frame that moves.) I know its Chinese but many companies charge 50-150% more for features like these. The only thing missing is titanium. Does anybody have one of these? If so whats the deal?

I purchased one of these and, not that I'm a big fan of CRKT (except for the S-2 which was their best and why they discontinued it-- ??drrrr) or China made knives, I liked the style very much. I received it yesterday and was surprised at the detail and "size" and weight of the smaller version. I have the Micarta version and it's an attractive looking knife. I plan on using it as a backup to one of my own made folders and I think for the $50 price tag, it's a pretty decent blade. I'd wait awhile, like all CRKT knives, the price falls sharply from the initial cost after awhile it seems then again, that nice S-2 is a hard one to come by now--who knows?...That's my 2 cents worth.

The s-2 was the titanium frame lock right? I bought my father the large and the medium version of that knife for 90.00 for the pair. I wished I bought 10 of them. When you say "size" do you mean its big? Is is wide in the pocket?

Yeah, it's one of three in the "smaller" version...if that's the case, the larger bone version must be huge! I'm not opposed to the size of the one I got, for some reason when you see them displayed like that (3 of one size alongside the big brother version) you sort of think it'll be like the size of an average Case knife in size...nnnope. It's about the size of a SOG or Benchmade type knife.

Yes, that S-2 is the titanium framelock and it came in three sizes. They were the best ones CRKT made in my opinion although, they have another discontinued one called the Apache that's pretty similar and just as rugged and, like the S-2 are getting hard to find. I guess the rule of thumb on good blades is, if you can't find one, that's the one we all should have bought a few more of and stuck in the gun safe when we had the chance!!

The one other I wish I'd bought a few more of is the Gerber SLG...fleabay has had a few and they too are hard to come by...unless you want to pay double plus for them from their original price.

Mine just came in today while I was at work. Love it. Big knife that fits in my hand easily.

This is from the CRKT website:

At 10.4 ounces, this is a big hunk of knife, with a 3.88” blade of premium
8Cr13MoV polished stainless steel and stainless steel liners so thick that it qualifies as a
frame-lock folder. The blade can only be called a “Crawford Marauder clip point,” with a
scalloped top edge and dual ramped Crawford-style thumb studs for opening. Just nudge
either thumb stud outward approximately 30 degrees, and the OutBurst mechanism springs the blade open with a satisfying “click.”
The stainless steel back spacer receives file work like the finest customs. And the scales are hand-shaped white bone with black G10 bolsters and a removable satin stainless steel pocket/gear clip. When it comes to grip, this folder has it all: a full-size handle, butt pommel, two deep finger choils and thumb friction grooves on the spine.

I have the model 7085 with the White bone handles.

Even back in the day of the S2 it was pretty hit and miss. I bought several of them and put them up. I had one out for the first time since new last week. I noticed when really getting set up to put an edge on the ATS34 that the edge was rolled badly over a large area. It was NIB, never used and I was original owner. I had to remove a lot of steel to fix it. It wasn't something that stropped off like a burr. It was bent steel.

I've got others that didn't come that way, but IMO they always have been hit or miss. They need to be checked before purchase.

Over all I do like the S2, though it's not the most ergonomic knife around. It was sure nice for the money.

I'm looking foreward to trying out the new Kommer fixed blade forged from 6XXX steel. It should be interesting.

Don't under estimate the Apache folder either. Totally excellant knife of premium materials and they came in different sizes. ATS34 blade in both plain and pse. Just very well made knives that you don't see alot of. I like them better than the S2 series for sure. keepem sharp

I had one of those CRKT Lightfoot models that was supposed to be heavy duty. It was chisel ground.
Anyway I used it a bit to hack some small limbs off hiking trails and the edge rolled almost immediately. Nothing I did would bring it back sharp.
That knife cost more than the Spyderco Salt, or the Kershaw Storm II, I use to do the same work now and neither the Salt or Storm has had a problem.

What I have found is that China will build a knife as cheap as you want, or as expensive as you want, with the quality to be commiserate(sp). Two recent China knives from Boker Plus, a Rampage, and a Valkrie, show excellent workmanship.

imho the best F&F knives in the CRKT line are the S2, M16 ti and M16 carbon fibre, all 3 gen'ly exhibit a lot better F&F than your std run of the mill CRKT, they also offer the best materials, mastiff is right though they can be "spotty" sometimes, but all the M16 ti and CF versions i have seen have been great, the S2 is a different story though, i have seen a lemon or 2 when it comes to them.
