I am looking for a more sheeple-friendly EDC folder, and was wondering if anyone had experience with a CRKT Tighe Tac. I'd be going for the larger version with a smooth edge.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

Well, sure, steel snobs don't care for AUS-6, or anything less than D2/S30V/ZDP or whatever is the flavor of the week. But it's not a crappy steel: it'll take a good edge easily, and hold it better than, say, 440A.Confederate said:Well, the current model offers an AUS 6M blade, which many people don't like. There's very little to keep one's hand from sliding down the edge. It's a stylish knife and good for many day-to-day cutting chores and I have one, but for the price you undoubtedly can do better.

I'm definitely not a steel snob and own many knives with AUS-8 and 440C but I would steer clear of CRKT AUS-6 unless it's going to be a very light duty knife.
Mayhaps true about the AUS 6, but for the price the knife is going for I'd rather have a CRKT 21-04 or 21/14 -- something with an AUS 8. The long, sleek blade of the Tighe Tac is a "stabbing style" blade and adds to its looks. The small knife goes for a song on eBay, but I prefer the larger model if that's what you like.Gryffin said:Well, sure, steel snobs don't care for AUS-6, or anything less than D2/S30V/ZDP or whatever.... As for the lack of guard, it's not intended for heavy stabbing....
Um... have you ever actually held an M16-x4??? The thing is huge, and very military-looking; the OP is looking for something "sheeple-friendly", not something that might cause a sheeple stampede!!Confederate said:The CRKT M16-14LE has an aluminum frame, an AUS 8 black tanto blade and a secure grip. It should last years and is only one of the company's better offerings.
