Columbia River Knife & Tool has been producing a vast array of Tactical style folders for some years now. I have quite a few and they really are very fine (and inexpensive) knives.
When i saw that CRKT had ventured into the Traditional style knives about 1 or 2 years ago, i bought 3 to see what they are like. I have been intending to post about them for a long time and finally now i have a chance to do so.

I think these 3 are "seconds" but i find nothing wrong with them. In fact they are really nice knives with shaving sharp blades.
Of all the import Traditional style folders, i have found Rough Riders to be the best. However my initial impression is that these CRKT folders are of equal quality to the Rough Riders. They have a different look and feel so they add another choice for someone looking for an inexpensive but very useable Traditional style folder.
I give them the "rprocter" seal of approval.

Yes, thank you for the review. I noticed that the blades aren't stamped. I wonder if they are also sold with other brand names.

I bought these right when they first came out and the seller listed them as "seconds", so maybe they were a trial run not intended for sale ? I assume that the CRKT traditionals being sold now do have tang markings ?
Somebody buy one (or more) and let us know.
I like the look of the jigged burnt bone. For the price, you won't be let down.

I don't know how they compare with Case knives because i haven't used them. Pattern for pattern they are about 1/3rd the price, but as we have shown in this forum so often, price and quality are not connected.
These CRKT are sufficiently inexpensive that for $20 or less you could buy a pattern you like and try it out for a few weeks and then post back here with your impressions.
My experience with the Rough Rider knives is that they perform quite similar to Case Tru-Sharp folders. My guess is that these CRKT folders will perform similar to the Rough Riders. CRKT tactical style folders which i own and have used are absolutely top-notch.

I've handled a few of these and none had any tang stamps. As far as I know, they were not seconds.

Thanks!
I had some bad experiences with RR, so I was a little wary when you said they compared to RR. I'll probably pick one of the whittlers up and review it later.

I just realized that these are almost identical to the Cabelas branded traditionals that aren't produced anymore... Well, I just found my own answer.

I don´t own a CRKT traditional.

But I read in a german knife-magazine, that CRKT makes a fine job on their traditionals. There was testrange at a couple of trapper knives. There was a Case, a Böker, a Carl Schlieper and the CRKT Trapper.

It was said in that magazine, that CKRT makes a good finish on the knives. The edges were a little dull, but the steel was good to resharpen.

Imo, when I ever see one anywhere, I gonna buy a CRKT traditional.

Kind regards
Andi
