About an hour ago, the big brown UPS truck pulled up by my place, and brought to me, a CRKT Ultima (the current model), directly from CRKT. THANK-YOU, CRKT!! This is one awesome knife!! The "fit & finish" is perfect, and this is one SOLIDLY built knife. This knife has a 4.95" blade of 1.4116 steel. It is a full-tang black blade, with (aggressive) "Veff" serrations. The handle feels EXCELLENT and secure in-hand. The cordura sheath is excellent, and is ambidextrious.

This is actually my first CRKT fixed-blade knife, (aside from a "Stiff Kiss" that I had 20+ years ago). I also have a CRKT FB Hissatsu "on the way" from a trade here at BladeForums.

I have put a Leatherman Supertool 300 in the pouch in the sheath...That's 2 excellent products from 2 excellent Oregon companies! This little "kit" will live in my CERT/bug-out bag.

I always liked the looks of those knives. There were two I think, a shorter stubbier one and a longer one.
I'd be interested in your experiences with this knife.

I posted a thread about how I tried to kill my CRKT M1, it wouldn't budge. I'm sold on them.

I bent one of the Veff serration tips on my first use of my M16-14SFGL. Customer service offered to replace, but I just pulled out a file and flattened the others a bit. Seems the tips of the serrations stick out too much. Super happy w/ my CRKT.

I've looked at the Ultima a few times, please update.

I have one of the older ones w/o the titanium coating, and with a spear point plain edge. It has been a really good knife. The sheath alone is worth the price I paid for the knife and sheath. It was a heck of a deal for $36.00 + shipping.

That's good to hear. I haven't been very impressed with my current CRKT offerings (M16 and Sting). Not that they're not nice, but they just didn't strike me as being as nice as similar offerings from other companies (Kershaw, BM, Spydie, for instance). Would like to know more about the Hissatsu also; I've heard mixed things about those.

I did the same thing last year with the 7" blade version. Pretty darn decent knife for the price. I found the scales to be a little rougher than they looked, but despite being somewhat uncomfortable, they really keep a good grip on the knife in all conditions. The sheath would definitely cost as much by itself.

Dann, I have been looking at that knife for 2 years at least and haven't got off the pot to snag one yet. I love the looks and have no problem with Krupp 4116, but my only hesitation has been the quality of the heat treat, which is an unknown to me. I would really appreciate an update on how you find the edge holding.

I have one also. The short one w/spear point and plain edge. All I can say is thank God for Amazon and Amazon gift cards.....lol
