Hello. I am new to this forum...great place place!
I just bought the crkt wild weasel. So far this knife seems like a keeper. It has 154cm steel(same as ATS34?). There is virtually zero play in the blade when opened. The assisted opening is tight, fasy, and smooth. It opens with force. The linear lock is a little tight. I examined two models of this nife in the store. One had a smooth easy to use linear lock and the other's linear lock was tight and stiff. I bought the stiffer one hoping that it will break in with use, and after a days use it has become easier to unlock. The satin finish on the blade and handle is nice, and seems scratch resistent. The rubber inserts on the handle are flush with the metal and they give me a secure feeling of grip while holding the knife. The overall size and shape fits comfortably in my large hands. Not too small, not too big. Same goes for the weight. Not too light, not too heavy. The blade is razor sharp from the factory. It feels like a solid knife and time will only tell when it comes to performance. Overall I think this is a knife that can redeem crkt in the eyes of knife handlers and collectors.
So far I am really enjoying this knife! I opted for this knife over the Kershaw Ken Onion Leek because of the 154cm steel. It also says made in the U.S.A. which I appreciate(I'd rather see that on my knife than made in Taiwain). I will still probably buy the Leek as a back-up, cardboard cutter, thin blade.
