What is up with the steel downgrade? CRKT has changed the steel on some models to 420J2. I didn't mind AUS-6, but 420J2? :barf:

AUS-8 on the SnapFire, but the Point Guard, Crawford/Kasper, Ryan Model 7, KISS/PECK series, Carson F4, Grant Hawk K-AT, Side Hawg, Mo'Skeeter, and Summit series have all been changed from AUS-6 to 420J2. Not cool at all! I don't even see the Grant DOG folder anymore. Have they been discontinued?

Yup, their best locking folder too...
The Carsons need a PE and Crawford needs his KFF Pro back.

Sounds like you press in on the big round wheel, push the wheel around to swing the blade out, then release the wheel to let the blade lock. To close, reverse.

Looks VERY cools, but a locking "button" that big looks way too easy to press accidently in use. Hafta actually handle one to get a better idea how safe it is.

oh PUKE! i just realized that the ad uses the phrase "Bling Bling". i hope someone got fire for that.

trash.

Any knives I want from them. I have three M16's. Two M16-14's and a M16-12z. Love them all except the bigger ones have that silly lawks lock that does nothing more than annoy me. I think I need a washer but where would I get one?

don't worry, that will wear off soon enough. you're just temporarily bedazzled by all the fancy colors. i'm in for $20 that you won't buy it.. :D

Snap Fire = :barf: Looks like they've been looking for design ideas in the Frost Cutlery catalog, and this is from a guy who likes the CRKT's he has. I don't mind embellishment on a knife, but this thing is cluttered beyond repair. The only hole in a blade shoud be used to open the knife.

So it's kind of like the blade lock?

According to the CRKT website description of the Snap Fire:

In this folder, Ed’s compression lock allows the blade pivot to move, unlike any other folder we know of. The pivot is on a sliding block recessed in the aluminum frame. Pressing down on the pivot wheels with the thumb lowers the spring loaded pivot block, releasing the AUS 8 stainless steel blade from the stainless steel locking post. This lubricated mechanism is sealed by brass and bronze plates, designed to give a lifetime tight fit.

We also designed one pivot plate to act as a knife safety. Press the lever forward, and the knife becomes a virtual fixed blade. Pull it back and you can fold the knife.

allyourblood beat me to it - any knife company that uses "bling" in it's advertising copy is just begging to be put alongside Frost and United. :footinmou

How can I take them seriously anymore? :barf:

Hmm, I'd really like a video of it in action. Incidentally I couldn't figure out how the Snap Lock worked either until a friend showed me his.
