Just purchased one of these last week and am impressed with it so far. First iimpression is that it is a very substantial knife for its price and size. Has that feel of solidity that I got with one of my first and favorite folders, the Buck 110. Locking system is smooth and feels very secure and with Lawks system should elimninate any slips liner locks may be prone to. Sharpness out of the box is o.k. but not as sharp as it could be . Anyone else have one and have impressions to share.

This is one of my favorite. I don't know any other knive with TN coating for that price. And yes, of course, it has this solid feeling when you hold it - thick and havy, not dressing tactical accesuar, but real knife.

I wish CRKT will make it from CM 154 as taht new assistant openers they just introduced.

Thanks, Vassili.

I got one pretty well when they first came out. Agreed about being a stout folder. Mine was shaving sharp out of the box - I would say about the same as a Buck 110 but not as sharp as my Spydie Delica. The difference, though, is very little :D It's a great buy for the money and I actually used it a lot (but not that hard) for a while. I work in an office environment but casual dress (aka blue jeans/golf shirt casual in my division). I found that it was a bit bulky for my week days things but nice for my weekend things. I carried mine in my back pocket and it was fine there, but it was still a bit bulky. Considering how many cardboard boxes I've knocked with that blade, the coating has held up real well. I can't give a good comparison against other blades on edge retention, because I haven't cut an equivalent amount with some of my newer ones. The only one I had at the time, was the CRKt/Crawford Falcon(large one, AUS6A) and the M1 definitely holds an edge longer. The Falcon's handle is more comfortable for extended periods. Both are very easy to touch up. The M1 is one of those ones that begs to be "flipped" open and mine got flicked at lot. The liner and tang have not really worn all that much, all things considered. The liner was flush to the edge of the tang when I got it and now, there's just a tiny bit of space, maybe 1/64 to 1/32 of an inch. I've done a lot of cutting with it but generally I don't "torque" that much, so this is probably not a good indicator on wear by any means. Haven't had to adjust the pivot and the screws haven't worked loose, which is pretty good - a few have worked loose in other folders.

Do I still use it? It still occasionally gets into my weekend rotation - I have a lot of folders in my collection/accumulation, and as I add more, many just get fondled but not used. Currently, I'm enjoying my latest acquisitions - Spyderco Paramilitary, BM 550 Griptillian (thumbhole, modified sheepsfoot) and BM-556 Mini-Griptillian)

Hope this helps - gord

In my humble opinion, this is the best knife offered by CRKT. The ergos are great. It has very nice lines. Yes it is a little bulky, but I don't think it was really intended for EDC use. It has an incredible TiNi coating. As I have said before, my buddy has an m-16 with the same coating and after two years of prying beer bottles open and opening boxes, the only flaw is box tape on the edge.

Got one last month. I am impressed. Blade shape, ergos, LAWKS, heft, feel, finish... price!!

I am not into folders much (I do own some for carry and work) and this one is one of the most attractive folder, cheap or custom, that I ever laid eyes on. IMHO anyway.

I would buy a similar blade shape (millenium tanto?????) for a fixed blade in a flash.

I bought this a while ago, and was very impressed. I opened it and held it and it just locked in perfectly into my hand. It was very comfortable.

I really like the flipper on it and it worked well even when wearing gloves and whatnot for work on the farm. I carried it for farm work for about six months and did all kinds of things with it.

Had to cut electrical wire and whatnot with it as well as baler twine every day. It, of course, got dull, but was easy to sharpen.

The coating is very nice and if you run it across a wire wheel or something of the like it gets to be a shiny black that is very attractive.

It's easy to take apart and put back together, though I did end up breaking a screw that got stuck. At least it wasn't the pivot screw.

It's a fantastic knife for the money, but my tastes have moved on and it gets very little pocket time now.

Love the M1 but the bulkiness in the pocket gets to me after a while and it sits alot. Great ergos and a fantastic cutter. In fact it may be the best tactical knife for cutting that I've seen.
