Can anyone give me any information, good or bad on CRKT's Lightfoot M1? Looks like a rugged little knife and wondering if this is the case or if looks are deceiving. Thanks for the input and help.

It's a good quality knife and very overbuilt. The grinds on mine are nice and it came pretty sharp. AUS-8 is the blade steel, and that stuff sharpens very easily. It has very rough zytel handles; it definitely won't slip from your hand. It's a bit bulky for its size. but if you like overbulit knives, then you should be cool with it.

It's a very solid knife with the unusual aspect of having the liners coloured black (as well as the blade.)

My one locks solidly, takes a good edge and teh clip positioning (left, right, up, down) will cover all your requirements.

Ergos are very good - but you cannot open the folder via the thumb stud - you have to use the flipper (at least on mine). The ball detente on mine is very good.
It is quite "heavy", but if you like solid folders, you will be happy.

a very handsome knife, but I find tanto-style points in general to be less useful than clip / drop points for daily utility tasks like opening mail.

They are a good buy - I was impressed!

In agreement with Daniel L but the modified tanto blade on this knife is actually a good utility cutter

I don't have one, but I handled one and was impressed...except for one thing.

The "modified tanto" doesn't give much of a tip. Sometimes, you need a slender tip to reach under things like tight zipties, etc. It would probably make a great defense or utility cutter (for slicing). Still, if I saw one for a great price, I might be tempted to buy it.

I thought about buying one and customizing it with better scales. Mebbe some colored G10 or Micarta...
