Not quite finished , but close enough to show it off. This is 21" oal of 5160 hand forged 14" blade. 3X1X3X. Bocote handle with aluminum pins.Mild steel guard and pommel. I can make my mind up on the pommel. Maybe a rounded disc of mild steel with a spike hard soldered to the nut. I'll just wing it when I get home. I need a longer forge. This was pushing the limits to get the whole length up to critical. I'm leaving the hammer dings and scrapes cause I like 'em.:D. If you have never worked with bocote, you dont know what your missing. It grinds like a dream on the edge of the wheel. Real neet purple streaks running through it.

That's probably the single ugliest blade I've ever seen on a knife. I LOVE IT! It screams "I don't need to be shiny and pretty, I'm a 14" long blade with a sharp edge!" :D Not for every knife, but it works on big scary ones like that. The bocote looks nice too. My only question is, at what point does it become a SWORD? ;)

I really like what you did with the handle. Very nice look. Scary blade, beautiful handle. Great combo!

I like it! Rough but beautiful, rustic blades have their charm as well as the polished pretty ones.

It is named right! Thats a killer knife! The hammer marks add the perfect look on this one.

21" long ? LOL Gouge I get tired just lookin at all the work you guys do with these straight blade knives. Gezzz the longest folder I make is about 4" long.

Yeah, and it will nicely double to cut blood worms too the next time you go to the fishing pier. I doubt if anyone would crowd your fishing line either. That's a good one.

Now wait a minute Gouge....I don't need any ugly knife competion :D

Looks like it was fun to forge though. Take it to a flea market and sell it for a fortune!

Yeah I dig the big blade too, but that guard is coolest thing this side of pickle ice cream! Knive like that sure make our vocation worthwhile, eh?

Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Now that is a piece of rustic beauty...
Looks like it could have been dug up around here from a old civil war camp site:D

Great job.
