Hey guys,

I have an ag russel toothpick. The blade has a 1/16" lean. and rubs into the liner. Normally, I wouldn't care. I carry my knives hair popping sharp. This makes it so much the harder to sharpened. And this is not the only knife that I have like this. My theory is that the blade got crooked (Warped.)when they struck in the tang stamp.

Is this a common problem for you? If so, how do you effectively sharpen it. Does Case knives have the same problem?

God bless.

I'm not sure I'm following you. Do you mean the blade is crinked at the tang and had a angle to it, or is there a gentle curve from kick to point indicating a warped blade?

If its just crooked it should not make it harder to sharpen, but a warped blade will act differently on a stone. It you carefully sight down the blade spine, is the blade itself strait or warped? It you lower the blade gently into the handle, does it bind on the liner?

Most often blade tip angle is caused by a slightly warped blade that cooled down a little too fast after final heat treat. Or if its a strait blade but lays in the knife crooked, then the problem is indeed in the tang.

Give A.G. a call and ask him about it. A.G. is one of the greatest guys in the knife world to deal with and he stands in back of all his stuff. He hasn't been in the buisness this long by accident.

Sorry about the confusion. Crooked was the wrong word. There is a slight warp the direction of the tang stamp. It runs the whole length of the blade. I have it on a lot of blades. I have it on a lot of blades. I really like the toothpick. It's nothing really serious. However, it does make it hard to sharpend on a whet stone.

Is the blade rubbing the liner making the blade dull? (As opposed to the blade being curved and difficult to sharpen.)

BTW, jackknife is correct about AG, who is a fellow BladeForums member.

The tip of the blad just rubs the liner. But thankfully the edge isn't affected.

Yeah, I have heard about how good AG is. Like I said. It not serious. If this happened on a Bose/Case collaboration. I would drive to ArKanSaw to get him to look at it. ;)
