Just off the top of my head, I would think that one could make a kydex sheath for that. No, not laying it flat, but wrapping it from the spine down. In other words, lay the kydex on the spine — with plenty of material — then bend it down past the edge. When finished, it would have to slip in and out at the open edge (sideways, as it were).

Maybe this needs more thought, or one of our experienced kydex benders might weigh in.

ETA: In explanation of what I'm talking about, set the knife edge down on a table, with the spine facing up. Now drape a piece of cloth over it, then lift the whole thing. See how the cloth wraps? Maybe you could do that with kydex, too? I don't know, because I know nothing about the properties of kydex, but it would seem to me that this would be the only way. You're sure as heck not going to be able to make a sheath where you pull it out from the end: I think sideways is it.

will it fit in one of those
old time plastic tubes for paintball
like a plastic cigar tube
maybe a tube made from kydex?

I would make a simple, flexible leather sheath that can be put on like a sleeve, starting at the tip of the blade and flexing to go around the curve.

Just a simple drop pouch with a snap top. Just like any other knife. ;)

I think what you are describing is a kydex edge cover...

It can be done. But, it would be an edge cover, and it would not have the usual quality of 'snap' that a good quality thermo-form sheath should have.

Also, it would not be a 'quick action' item. Some care would be needed to put it and take it out.

Best,
Marion

I see what you're thinking, Marion, and that would work, too. I was thinking more along the lines of an edge cover that goes all the way up to the spine, if that makes any sense.

Maybe I'll draw one after awhile (I'm headed out for awhile right now).

Jon's bushcraft has a good idea. I still don't have a crooked knife, but I'll probably end up making one of these when I do get one.

I think we are saying the same thing, in shape, I just would not call it a sheath, even if it was full cover (which I think it should be). The word sheath assumes certain qualities in my mind, that a 'sheath' like that, for that item would probably not possess. If that makes any sense...

aka

If I sold someone a sheath for a Mora 510, it would have good 'snap', it will be easy to use, it will safely store your knife in carry, it will be quick, it won't require any thought in it's application. Then if they had those qualities in mind, and bought a 'sheath' for a half curve bowl knife from me, and it did not meet those same standards, they would be disappointed. So, I will make sure to clarify that the 'sheath' that would be made for a half curve bowl knife or mocotaugan (crook knife, crooked knife, couteau croche) is going to function to keep you from cutting the dickens out of your stuff, but it won't behave the way a normal sheath does, even if it looks the same, superficially.

 Concur. Maybe I'll draw one up, just for the heck of it.

I used a few old pieces of chamois leather that I just wrap around the crooked blades and secure with a few loops of shock-cord; simple and secure.
