What makers do you guys like for a crooked knife? And where whats the best place to look? I have a spoon knife, but thought it might be fun to have other styles as well to play with.

Thanks

locally theres an old school hardware store that carries the frost moras.

picked up a s2 yesterday for $9.20(tho they list it for more in the catalog for some reason...). the curved knife, #164, was $11 i think. which i picked up some time ago. nice little knife and well suited to its purpose. bad thing bout that hardware store. can hardly walk in there without picking up another mora. they are so cheap ad such great blades...sharp as the dickens and hold an edge.

there are a number of makers on another forum. one guy out of OK makes a really nice one... let me know if interested and ill hook u up

edit:

I left you a visitor message w/ the info. Just in case you want to go that route.

I hear the Mora 171 and 180 Farrier's knives are decent. Very accessible too.

Hoof knives are what I use for crooked knives and I do have a couple that are moras that work pretty well. Be warned you will have to put a new edge on them to get them to work well, the very steep angled chisel grind they come with doesn't even work well ( for me) for trimming hooves let alone carving wood.
