Last weekend I went cross-country skiing with some friends. Did 41 km first day and 31 km the second day, with a big heavy backpack off course :) On the first day we had to use our headlights for the last 7.5 km...

Bit of a crazy weekend with all kinds of weather; sun, snow, fog, rain, wind. We had lots of fun and were quite exhausted when we got home.
And I won't forget the people staring at our backpacks :D

Brought 3 knives with me... but didn't use any of them

Only 15 km left at the last day, luckily we had some good weather ;)

Thats fantastic!!! 41KM in a day is really moving - especially with a heavy winter pack! How was the snow? Looks pretty wet (and variable conditions?) and sticky....

The last day looks like better (colder!) conditions.

Thanks for bringing us along!

wow, that's what i call a winter outing! i'm jealous of all that snow. good stuff, man.

First day the snow was quite acceptable, not sticky. It was soft enough to dive head first (with your pack on your back) into it without getting soaked and having bruises everywhere ;) The entire day was just foggy weather and in the end of the day it turned into a drizzling rain. During the night we had some heavier rain as well and in the early morning it was snowing.
On the second day the sun was breaking through in the morning and we had some nice weather. It was colder as well and I was quite surprised the snow was still quite good after all the rain (although it was more icy in some places). After lunch it started to snow again and snow conditions became quite bad since it was extremely sticky. So lots of snow build up under the ski's and sometimes we even had to work hard when going down hill...
