Cross Draw Sheath For 110: Good or Bad?

I was wondering if a cross draw sheath for a 110 is practical? They look sharp but I don't see how the knife could be secure or protected. And, if they are made with tension to hold the knife in, it seems like it would be difficult to pull it out. Any thoughts?

I have a custom made cross draw for my 110 and I like it quite a bit. I would suspect that it depends on design, but mine holds the knife in securely and is fairly easy to remove. I'm sure that some work better than others.

By the way, the newer nylon sheaths (not sure about older models) from Buck can be used in both vertical and horizontal positions and they snap shut. They're only $5.20 if you use your BCCI discount. So that might be a consideration as well.

Thanks SB. I believe I'll go both routes. I just like the look of the cross draw and the one I'm looking at appears very well made. The nylon will always come in handy.

Also, the folding Alpha Hunter's sheath had the cross draw option. The Model 277, a well made leather sheath. DM

I love the leather sheaths for the 110 because they just look right. But I like the way my nylon sheath rides better. It seems to ride closer to the body where as the leather one I have doesn't.

The Cordura/nylon sheaths are nice, but I prefer the older leather sheaths of the two dot era because they ride lower. The belt loops on the newer leather sheaths are lower which makes the knife ride higher.

For the op, I have no experience with a 110 quick draw. I did try one out on a Goliath and thought it was too much work to secure properly. It was a cheapie quick draw though.

I might have to compare some sheaths. Currently the only leather one I have came with my stag AG. Maybe I should pick up a new and old sheath and compare them side by side.:D

Here are some I got off the bay. The top one is for a 112 and the knife is held in real well. The one handed opener is different but is a bit of a pain to reload.

I was looking on ebay at one of those 1 hand openers. Does the blade hit the screw when it is opened? I would be concerned of dulling the blade.

That was my concern but the blade doesn't ride on the screw. The blade is never fully closed so it just taps the screw and it is open.
