This shield is on a German Boker 2052. I am looking for any info on shield. Struck out with search engines and database foo, as well as BF Boker Mod, Germany and USA. Cross posted to traditional, maintenance, and Boker.
thx

Celtic? (Quad) Flur de Lis?
Could the knife be a special order or very limited production aimed at the Celtic/Scandinavian, French, or possibly Arabic or African market?
I don't know if the design has any special significance to the latter two demographics.

Have you been able to date the knife?

Can't help but wonder if it isn't just a user mod added by another previous owner. Edges of the recess for the medallion look sort of rough or uneven. Doesn't look like factory or professional custom work to me.

The only other example I'm seeing of the 2052 Boker Cocobolo lockback doesn't have any shield or medallion at all. This is why I'm thinking it's just an add-on by another individual.

I think that's a reproduction of a historical embellishment used on knife scales.

But for the life of me I can't get the word to pop into my head.

Occitane Cross! Some relation . . . . . . .occitane-cross-badge.jpg

I think this could be called a fleur-de-lis cross!
Well, well "fleur-de-lis cross" hit it square with an image search waynorth. 3 representations in 1st four rows using duckduckgo. "Occitane Cross" hits as well with end points dotted not flourished. Bet their is a story there.
To bad Boker could not provide any info of serialized use of shield. A point of origin story from factory would eliminate possibility of after market add-on of cross. Material between cross and wood looks like old fashion boat seam caulk, stringy n black.

Using waybackmachine on boker de n boker usa, suggests German made 4 pin pattern, rear lockback, blade markings, and shape were 205x pattern, in Damascus, 440C n 440V /s60v.
