The HH haft I got for this was slightly too small for the eye and I wanted a snug, safe fit. I also didn't have a wedge wide enough, so I decided to try a cross wedge. I think I should have sawn the same wedge in half so both halfs matched. Other than that, does this look about right? Any tips on cross wedging?

Looks good. That's the way I prefer to do it, cross-wedge one piece, main wedge two piece.

Was the back of the handle snug when you did all this? No amount of wedging will rectify a loose shoulder.

That looks like a good job to me Curt Hal.

The handle and wedge grains all run against each other or close enough.

What did you hang?

Looks good to me. Gotta watch the cross wedge being too wide or it'll try to prevent the tongue from spreading when you drive the main wedge. Now, having said that, I screw it up all the time so take it for what it's worth. Good lookin piece overall, so it's a win and if it stays hung then it's perfect because the proof always lies in the proverbial pudding.

So if it stays on there when you use it then you know for sure?

I was picturing that head on the end of an industrial Hobart mixer - and standing back a ways.
