Are there any plans afoot to redesign the CrossCut and CrossGrip so that you can deploy the enclosed knife, tweezers, screwdriver, etc., without opening the minitools? This is one of the few criticisms I've read about them, aside from the lack of a real cross-head screwdriver.

Of course if you change the crossgrip around as suggested then you can't deploy the knife blade etc. very easily with the pliers open

I can assure you that opening and closing the SOG crossgrip is a deeply profound experience. Feeling those cogs move replaces all other fidgeting activity such as clicking fingers, clicking pens etc etc

The SOG crossgrip - every keyring should have one

Try flicking open TiNi Powelock in public, and watch the reaction:D

I don't think so, but it sounds like a neat idea. We do always look at ways to improve our knives/tools.

I suggested this partly because I let my wife try both minitools, but she took one look and shook her head, saying that having to open the whole tool to access an implement was too complicated and she might break a nail.

Don't laugh. If she thinks that, how many other women are not using the SOG minitools for that very reason?

And they're great little tools. She agreed with that after watching me demonstrate them.

Just think of how many women might use the SOG minitools if the implements could be accessed without opening the tool.

Just a thought, but one worth considering, I believe.
