I know I am in the axe forum, but I remember some discussion in years past about information on crosscut saws. It is time for me now to downsize my tools. Can anybody give me ideas where or how to do this with my crosscuts besides EBAY ? And yes, axes, hatchets, adzes, and all kind of log structure building tools should be up for sale sometime within the next 6 months also.

I put out the word to a pal of mine. While he's got his hands full with enough saws etc. at the moment he knows a few folks who might be interesting so he'll ask around.

So sad to hear!

I know our trail club (chapter of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club) uses a lot of crosscut saws, I bet there are lots of trail clubs that could use these kind of tools, and sometimes have budgets to buy stuff.

There is a classifieds section of this forum.

Where are you located?

I might like to secure a few for the Washington Trails Association. I’ll check if they still have a need. I’d rather see them put back to work than hung on a wall.

The WTA would like a couple 5'-ish felling saws. But let's talk by email. Maybe we could throw a few more in the package to cut down on shipping costs. You still have my email address? I'll be out of town for the weekend but I can catch up with you on Monday.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I should have put more info in my post, sorry. The 2 crosscut saws I want to sell are not really everyday trail saws. The first one is my long time ago competition 2 man and sometimes 1 man saw. It was a new 1960's ATKINS VICTOR Model # 225 bucking saw, 4 cutter and raker, that I cut down to 55". In the 1960's, 70's, and early 80's, I won 4 overall state championships, 2 in Virginia and 2 in Colorado. The second saw is a SIMONDS ROYAL CHINOOK model #513, 4 cutter and raker, that I cut down to 39". I also used this saw for 1 man competition and it was my favorite log building saw.

So what I have decided to do is have my friend George in Seattle handle the sale of these 2 saws along with my axes, adzes, hatchets, etc. He is on this forum as ithinkverydeeply. Now that he is my agent, he said you can contact him if you might be interested. It will most likely will take me up to 6 months to get it together and ship everything from Hawaii to Seattle.

Thanks for your interest, Bernie Weisgerber
