Crosslock Question

Hi everyone. I bought one of the three function Crosslock knives today in camo finish. It has a 'saw', drop point blade, and guthook. I planned to use it for hunting. My question refers to the drop point blade on this knife, (which has a bead blasted finish). The edge on the knife is about the roughest I've seen on a knife. You can see the grind marks along it's entire length. I have a fixed blade drop point Buck knife with a mirror finish and it's blade edge is smooth, like most knives. What's going on here? Is this some attempt to reduce 'glare' on Buck's part? Should I return this knife? - - - Thanks for your comments, - Pointshoot

In reference to my last post - the model number of my knife is 180 D3 "3 Function Hunter". Thanks

Point,
What you are seeing is the result of the new Edge 2000 process. The old way of removing the burr at buck involved using a hard cotton wheel loaded up with compound. This worked great but we found that if we used a hard leather wheel instead, the edge was better. It does look rougher but what you sacrifice in looks, you make up for in performance.
Hope this helps,

I've found the Edge-2000 knives to be sharper out of the box and are easier to keep sharp than the older knives.

The premise for Edge 2000 is steeper, flatter bevel. This provides a thinner edge that will be sharper and stay sharper longer. The flatter bevel is what allows the knife to resharpen easier.

Our old method produced a sharp knife but rounded the bevel grind. This meant that you had to grind off a hump before you were even touching the edge and it felt like all the work you were doing was not accomplishing anything.

I like the grind lines because they will train you on resharpening. You can see easily if you are staying flat on the stone and altering those grind lines all the way accross the bevel in a consistent manner.

I have a crosslock blade I purchased a while ago. My major problem with this knife is when it is opened and locks and I use it the blade folds past the locking point, it has almost hurt my hand when trying to cut some carpet it bent backwards into my hand(the dull side)

Send it back to us and we will replace it.

The blade has worn through the corner of the stop. We will send you a replacement where we added some height to the back of the blade so it engages more of the stop.

We will turn it around quickly.

At least I quit giving our joes home number and address....
