I just started forging about march of this year and seen as how I no idea on the best steel to use for manufacturing my own crowbar but I need to make one my cuz my cousin accidentally broke the tip off my old one I was curious if anyone has any good suggestions to make one I heard D2 steel might be good

Welcome to Bladeforums.

As I recall, crow/pry bars are typically made of medium carbon steels. And I believe the "medium" range steels are between 1030 and 1055. But I don't claim to be an expert on steels.

D2 is a high carbon steel. Although D2 is commonly referred to as a "tool steel", that doesn't make it the best choice for every tool.

I think those sound like good suggestions.

I bet 4140 would be great for a crowbar as well.
