Crowdfunding of knives?

These days many types of items are being listed on crowdfund sites like Kickstarter. I don't recall seeing much in the way of knives on the sites other than say kitchen knives. Have any of you purchased a knife via a crowdfund and if so what was it?

Here's my cautionary tale. Got an item from a successful kickstarter, didn't work at all as described, chatted with the people about various fixes, tried various things with no luck. Up until this point they were helpful and friendly. Finally, after pretty well exhausting my options I regretfully inquired how to return it. Then they explained to me that the money I had paid was an investment and the item was a gift thanking me for that. No refunds. No more kickstarter for me, ever, thanks.

Kickstarter is a bit like giving money to friends and family. It's reciprocal altruism, not a contract. I wouldn't fund a crowdfunded project unless the balance was right between investment cost, coolness of the project, past successful projects completed by the developer, and personal knowledge of the developer.

I currently have a movie and a tabletop role-playing game funded. Both of the developers are well known in their (admittedly small) fields and have run successful projects before, but they're still small investments made in projects that have taken at least a year, sometimes two or three, and may take another year yet.
