I was wondering approximately about how much 8-10 inch Crowell Bowies were going for? Thanks :cool:

Ready for the step up. Huh.

Forged blades;

When you can find one $1200-$1600 or more.Depending on scales, ect.

I just bought a cool hunter from him in Little Rock for $450.00.
Ironwood and 5160,temperline,pins in handle.Beautiful.Won't be my last from him.

Actually I already found one & have been playing with it non-Stop for Two Days.I was just wondering how much they're going for on the Open Market.It's a 9 3/4 inch blade with oval guard NS along with the ferrule and Curly Maple handle I believe.Very Well Balanced & Exceptional Quality Overall.I don't want to sell it-Just wondering.Thanks Nifrand

A big plain, bowie with a nice handle and simple fittings is going for approx $125 per blade inch of plain carbon steel. Damascus about $200 per inch from what I have seen. His prices are generally in line with Fisk's.
His work is as good as it gets, IMO.

This is my 1st Crowell Bowie,I traded a Fitch Hog Body for it.I'm Really Impressed with it.I had a choice of two other Crowells and a Dean.I think I picked the Right one.I'll try and get a pic of it up.Thanks for the Info Guys :cool:

I personally consider Jim Crowell to be one of the most talented bladesmiths. I don't recall seeing a single knife by him that I didn't like.

I gotta tell you I Love my new Crowell,It's Flawless,Looks Great,Feels Great,& is Scary Sharp!!! It's Long,Slim,& Wicked-Just Like Me.But John Fitch is still my all time Favorite Maker.I've owned three of his knives and Every one has been perfect.I've got a 10 inch Southwest bowie coming from him.The Curly Maple handle was made from a support beam taken from a house built in 1930.John says it's By Far the Nicest Maple handle he's ever done,and doubts he ever be able to duplicate it. :cool:

Fitch and Crowell gather at my shop every month or so, & I get to see them turn out those bigun's. Artistry in motion. I have also seen both of them destroy a finished knife that wasn't up to their standards.

The darn pups, I tried to teach them all I knew. Come to find out they know more than I do!!!!! GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE

;)

I could never afford a Crowell Bowie (without hitting the lottery) but I do have a Camillus OVB Crowell cutting competition Bowie on order. Can't wait
Good collecting !
