IF this has been already posted, my apologies.

For all you steel junkies, using the old Crucible web page address today got me this page:
Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)

A bit of googling and some traversing of the new web site got me to this page, a listing of their downloadable product data sheets:

http://www.crucible.com/datasheets/index.cfm

Worth bookmarking if you are into this sort of thing.

That was their domain for a long time, just back then most of it pointed to the crucibleservices.

So does anyone know the extent of the financial problems they had? Specifically will they continue to produce as much steel as they did previously? I don't recall where I saw it specifically, but there was talk of them ramping down production way, way down. Not good.

They got bought. I imagine the new owners will supply what the market demands.

The major problem was the poor economy. They did a lot of supplying to the automotive industry .The new company is Crucible Industries . www.crucible.com
www.nsm-ny.com is a company that has been doing work [rolling etc] for a long time and is continuing. They have lots of good knife steels from Crucible !!! Not to worry !http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=744789

I am truly happy now... Seriously, I kind of figured that Crucible would fall into legend status in the near future. I'm very pleased to see that they still have the steel flowing out of there. That is quite a lot of stock they have. Looks like we will continue to enjoy knives made for this companies fine product.
thanks!
