I've got a buddy(CrowSniper here on BF) going on a cruise with his wife to the East Carribean & he wants to pack a pocket knife (Vict. SAK Cadet w/alox handles) Can he do this with out getting into trouble ? Anybody else done this ? If thisis the wrong placeto ask this, sorry :o please move it to the right place .

I guess it depends on where you go. My son inlaw tried it and they took it away from him and did not return it, EVER. Nice Spydie.

My sister and her husband went on a cruise a few months ago. they had to go through airport like security checkpoints with metal detectors and luggage searches. No knives were allowed.

i would say the best bet would be to call up whoever is responsible for the cruise, and find out right from the horse's mouth. travel agent, cruise company itself, etc.

i would have a tough time being on a ship where they won't allow me to have a pocketknife, but such is life...

Have been on several cruises. Put a small throwaway folder in your checked bag so you got something to carry while on the ship once your luggage makes it to your room. Don't take a multitool, they will find that. Small knife in your toiletry bag or next to the wife's curling iron should be missed.

Don't take it off the ship if you stop at ports of call as you won't be able to walk back on the ship with it.

Keep a steak and butter knife (you get the first night at dinner) in your state room for the duration of the cruise so you got a fixed blade. Leave it there when the cruise is over.

If he wants something more for defensive purposes then for utility, he could look into the cold steel nightshade series. I personally haven't used them so I cant speak for them, but they seem like they would serve a purpose in situations like this. Also a small keychain knife might also escape scrutiny if attached to key ring buried in the luggage.
