Does anyone here have a crusader forge knife?

How does it compare to strider or extrema ratio?

Are they worht it?

I own a fixed blade and have given their folders consideration.

Extreme Ratio and Strider are production knives whereas Crusader Forge are custom. You can speak to the maker (or his wife) of the CF knives, explain your intended use, and he'll accomodate you. I'm not sure if this is how it works when purchasing a Strider or ER knife.

They both use S30V (CF uses CPMS30V, not sure if there's a difference) for blade steels.

IMHO, all three have a good reputation for making hard use, heavy duty knives. Of course the trade off is their folders are quite large.

Crusader Forge takes special pride in their heat treating process. I believe Maciej Szczerbiak triple tempers each blade, hand grinds, and hand shapes each handle. The G10 slabs look unorthadox until you handle one...they simply fit the hand like a glove whether edge up or edge down.

Prices between all three companies are pretty much the same with CF running a bit higher (handmade knives typically do).

I've got a Crusader Forge Metro folder and have owned a ZT300 and a ER Nemesis so here are my thoughts.

The Metro folder is build to withstand an atomic blast and keep going. The lock is extremely thick, the pivot oversized and the construction top notch. The blade shape/profile while thick is great slicer, very pointy and came very, very sharp. It's a little bulky compared to the ZT but that knife was a high point for overall design.

It's a little lighter than the ZT300 but the lock side is way beefier. The ER was well made folder with a fantastic lock and was way more comfortable than the looks would leave you to believe.

Both the ZT and ER are not in my collection any more but the Metro is. Not too sure if I'll ever get rid of it. It's got something about it that keeps me coming back.

i have four crusader forge/trident knives.
the VIS folder is wicked. not too heavy, the milled titanium slabs are comfortable, offer awesome grip, but also allows for indexing and changing grip in the hand.Chunky in the pocket though, I also own a Strider AR and it's much tighter, little bigger, almost as sharp( the AR is one of the sharpest knives i've ever owned), very pointy, which is good b/c some of these larger folders, specifically the bm630 and zt 300 don't penetrate very well, and the hollow grind works great because the blade is so thick, it reduces the thickness of the cutting edge considerably, very well designed.
The fixed blades, if you have the opportunity, buy one. I have a tcfm2, 5/16 thick OB2, and a spear point ob1 with ti coating. the first one i owned was the tcfm2, and holding it, i felt like i could do anything. i never had that feeling with a knife before, now i own 4, and i buy one every chance i get.

I have an Oberland 01, and Oberland 03, and the TCFM 01.
They are very very strong knives and the workmanship is top notch. If you go to their web page then check on the "testing" button you will see what I mean by "STRONG"

By all means, get one but I bet you won't want to have just one....they have some kind of virus that makes you want more and more.

Compared to Striders which I have the GB, AR and an SMF the Trident is much more refined knife, made for heavier duty. The prices are about the same for striders and Tridents. I also have an Extrema Ratio RAO which I like very much, and it will probally take as much abuse as the later. You can't go wrong no matter which company you pick. Pick the style or look you like the best.

If you want a trident thre is usually a long wait whereas the SDtrider and Extrema Ratio are more readily available.

ETA: My Metro Tactical should arrive in the mail by the end of the week. I'll let you know how it works out.

http://www.finercutlery.com

he usually gets about 7 or 8 knives a month from crusader forge, he lists them on ebay as well, better deals on ebay than his site, however if you call you might be able to work something out, i think his name was Bill, nice guy, nicer knives.
