So I got my cryo II in the mail today. It looks beautiful but I have a question. I tried to use the flipper and it was very hard to use so my question is will the speed safe work better the more I use it (like does it need to be broken in or should I return it

It's a harder flip than I expected (or maybe we both have bad ones) - I have the cryo 2 tanto blackwash. I've had it for a few months, only carry it one day a week (jeans on Friday's, too heavy for dress pants) and I've opened it a few dozen times and it hasn't gotten any easier.

I have a leek and it is very easy to engage the assisted opening, but also has a tip-lock on it so it is a non-issue. The cryo 2 doesn't have a tip lock and I think it must use the same spring as larger Kershaw AO. My cryo 2 is also a really loud CLICK when I open it while the leek is almost silent.

Hey buddy, as an owner of various Kershaw Speedsafe models, I can tell you that each knife is different. Some need more pressure build-up, some just fly out like crazy, and others need to be broken in.

Is your blade centered? Is the pivot too tight? Are you gripping the knife properly?

I've owned several Cryos, a couple of Cryo IIs, and a few Thermites. These budget friendly Hinderer-designed pieces are great. Try flicking it constantly for another day or two, and if that doesn't help you may want to take it apart. If you're not satisfied after a couple of days then go ahead and try and exchange or send it out to KAI to take a look. They offer excellent customer service!
