anybody know where a possible source of liquid nitrogen could be found? Do welding supply shops keep this as well as the other gases?how about drug stores?

Most welding places carry it, but you can't just take it home in a milk jug. A good dewar is expensive new, but used ones show up on ebay pretty regular. Call your local hospital and ask for plant management, and ask them who supplies their liquid oxygen. The same folks should have liquid nitrogen, and might rent you a dewar so you can try before you lay out the cash for one.
