The orange Cryo scales I saw made me wonder about stonewashing the blade of a Cryo. I suppose that the combination of a stonewashed blade and a colored handle slab on a Cryo will make it as much of an XM clone as it can be.

What do you guys think? Would a Cryo with a stonewashed blade look good? Just the stonewash, for now. G10 slabs, maybe later.

BOOOMP!

Maprik, you out there? Don't tease me by promising knife porn and then not posting pictures....

Here is all stonewashed and stonewashed with orange.

Nice cryo S.Orange.
I have to get another one of these Cryos. They are great to edc. I gave my Cryo to my college bound niece over the holiday.

Yeah, that does look good.

Any idea how to protect the thumbstud through the stonewashing process? The way I see it, that's gotta stay black.

I think you can unscrew the thumb studs. Ive taken them of mine before just by twisting them.

I left mine exposed, but as Matty said, they are screw on. I also used scotchbrite to remove the coating before I stonewashed mine so that it would turn out brighter. About halfway through, I decided to leave the flats of the blade coated so I would end up with a nice fade. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially considering I did it in a dryer with random stuff I already had laying around the house. :p
