I know that this has been discussed before, but I have not been able to determine what the facts are.
My question concerns carbon steel blades. Is it best to temper once before subjecting the steel to the cryo, or is it best to cryo after hardening and before any tempering???
I have read that it is best to temper once before the cryo to prevent grain growth. I have also read that grain growth is determined during initial heating (or over heating) prior to quenching and hardening.
