crystaline titanium?

I have seen several Boker knives, folders and kitchen knives with a crystaline titanium.
Is this different that other titanium?
I have a Benchmade balisong with titanium handles, and was wondering if there is an acid etch or something that would bring out the crystaline pattern out. Actually, I am wondering if there is anything besides anidization that I could do to the handles to "customize" it.

Any thoughts?

The titanium used in those Boker knives is very special and not the kind that is in your Balisong. If you want customized then either polish and then anodize or heat treat for color. You could also try sand blasting for texture and grippability.

Titanium alloys that are coarse grained show up their structure to the naked eye very nicely when they are polished and etched. If you're interested, I could look up an etchant recipe or two. Unfortunately, these tend to contain HF, hydrofluoric acid, which is extraordinarily nasty stuff.
