This isn't a review, just some images I took to perhaps better illustrate the CS Triad lock. A most impressive offering from Cold Steel.

All in all, this is a well made and well designed folder. I now understand why STR bought 4 of them.

Oh yes, the knife comes with a left hand clip and is completely 'lefty' friendly.

FWIW, the new AL's coming out from CS are liner-less G10 handles. Supposedly it's just as robust as the linered models. Me?... I think I'd like the linered model. I'm thinking about picking one up. Thanks for the pics!

I have both that model, the second model just about like it but with the mods to the scales to cover the tang of the knife better when closed and the one that is the latest without liners. I carry the linerless model due to both it's being thinner and lighter. My favorite one is this model shown here though. Cold Steel really needs to add the jimping back on the blade IMO. This model shown is the only one that has the spine done that way on the blade. The second model following this one while it still had liners is jimpless as is the linerless model. (is that even a word? Oh well, it is now!:D)

Looks great and with all the recent talk about this model, I ordered one:D It should be here tomorrow. I haven't bought Cold Steel in years, mostly Spyderco, Benchmade, and Emerson so I'm excited to see if the quality is good. STR's recent talks about Cold Steel in particular helped me to make the decision relatively easily.

Some actually listens to me? Wow! Now if I can just get my wife to do that I'll really be doing something!

Seriously, the American Lawman folder is my new favorite EDC knife. I had a fairly long span of time where I didn't buy many Cold Steel knives either but this one excited me so much after the first one that in the end I didn't just buy one, I bought four! Its a great knife guys and I'd say that no matter who offered it. Andy is knocking some homeruns out of the park here lately with certain of his designs. I really look forward to watching him make his mark in this industry in coming years.

very nice BIG pictures!:) but where's the color? :D

Color? What is color? Where I live everything is grey from politics to sweat shirts. ;)
Actually, when I 'P Shop' the images, I'll often convert them to grey scale just so I don't have to suffer the frustration of trying to color balance the desktop fluorescent light. Yes, I am a lazy man. :o

Thanks, Splat. Yes, my head tells me that from a functional point of view, there is no difference between a well engineered synthetic handle and a steel lined handle. However, when push comes to shove, good old steel will generally get my vote.

Jimpless? I think that I like that word and I just added it to my 'spell check'. ;)

I didn't know that CS had three variations of the Lawman! I better pull the trigger on a backup of this model while I still can.

Yeah. If you guys didn't see the pictures I posted in another thread of three of my four side by side they are here. Just scroll down to one of my posts. (#15 in the thread) You'll see them. This shows the differences/improvements made better than words.

Thanks, STR! I missed those when they were posted because the browser I was using didn't support the full sized images.

Great pics STR:thumbup: I think the version with jimping and liners looks the best, but it seems that most dealers have the newest version if they have anything at all. These must be selling well because most of my regular pushers are out of stock lol. I got the last one from a certain center. I'm sure the linerless will still be fine if Andrew says so and I don't really beat the crap out of my folders anyways.

You can get good and rough with that liner less model and it will like it and ask for more. No worries at all with it. No liners and it will still out perform many higher priced with.

I got the new one (linerless, jimpless ;)) beginning of this year and have carried it a good couple of days. I really like it and it feels amazing in my opinion. Absolutely well worth the money. Perfectly centered, perfect lockup, feels very robust, love the finger choils, great grip all in all an enourmous surprise that it feels that good.

In the blade centered pic. it appears that the tip has some crude on it? Or is that just in the pic or maybe some dust?

What you were seeing is a highlight reflection off the top of the tip, where some of the coating was removed.

Wow, how did I miss this when I was looking for info on a Lawman? Great descriptive write up sir. If I may add a couple pictures of a linerless G-10 American Lawman.
