I'm about to pull the trigger on the Cold Steel American Lawman from an online retailer. I'm just wondering if I'll be getting the new linerless model or the old ones with the steel liners. When did CS introduce the linerless version. I'm just concerned that I might get the older version since I can't see the product before buying.

Cheers

Talk to your dealer. Send them an email and ask them to check for you if you have a preference. You might try ordering off of the "big river website". They have the newest version at what I believe is the best price. Actually I think you wold have an extremely hard time getting the old version of this knife with the steel liners from anywhere at this point.

There is a 99% chance you will get the new liner-less version. Unless they have a surplus of new old stock laying around.

I'm ordering this knife from a dealer on "the" Bay because they ship internationally. They list the weight as 5.4oz. That was what got me concerned as the linerless version comes in at 4+ oz I think. Then again they could just be listing outdated specs. I tried asking them but their answer wasn't encouraging to say the least.

"Thank you for contacting us.? I am sorry, but I am not sure.? I have forwarded this question to our product development team. If we are able to locate the answer to your question, we will notify you within one business day. You may wish to contact the manufacturer directly as they would have the most relevant and informative information for you.? Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you in the meantime.

Guess I'll just have to chance it. As you guys said - I have a 99% chance of getting the linerless version. :p

I had both liner and linerless. I sold the linerless version. One was not better than the other in my opinion and the weight didn't bother me either way. Both stellar knives...

Mine is linerless, and with the G-10 scales I don't think it needs any more reinforcement. Mine is in CTX-XHP steel which sharpens easily to a very fine edge and holds it a long, long time. Great knife, love the Tri-Ad lock.
