I am the new owner of Cold Steel’s Black Bear Classic. All I can say at this early point is I cannot believe the quality of fit and finish, and also of the materials used in this knife. The pictures and descriptions sure do pale in comparison to actually hefting this piece around. Now I need to find a deal on a second one!

It more resembles a custom, and is NOTHING like my other Cold Steel models.

Anyone else with an opinion on this knife?

Thanks.

It's pretty cool. They had a parking lot sale a few weeks ago and I looked closely at that. If it wasn't full double edged, I might have bought it for a beater camp knife. You should see their Military Classic. Nice pinned real black Micarta handle, red spacer material and everything in a nice leather sheath. It was a great knock off of a Randal and I probably should have bought one, but I figured for a couple hundred more I could get a real Randal so I left it on the table. I sort of wish I hadn't as it was marked way down for the sale.

Most of their stuff is just OK, some seems like real junk, but they do make some great knives too.

I bought one used off the forums a long time ago and Jake Evans rehandled it for me in stag.

Augustus - Just FYI. During my ebay search for Sunday night bargains, I saw a NIB one of these for a killer price. No bids yet, and a full 100% seller.
