I see that the 154cm option is off the list for the custom shop. I hope that is just a short term change and that it comes back. As I said I had the opportunity to talk to Chuck Buck about adding D2 to the blade offerings.

If I had the say on which Paul Bos treated blades to offer :D:D this would be the list:

BG42
S30V
154CM
D2
440C
VG-10
1095

Now its a real buffet line of blade choices

Of course, I'd like to see the coatings used on the AG & BP offered too.

Paul Bos heat treated D2 & 1095 would be a smash hit IMHO.

And I think 440C would draw good interest with a Paul Bos 440C stamp on the blade.

Just my two cents I guess.

I use 1095 in some of my knife blades...OK, just one...

But how would you reconcile the oxidation factor vis-a-vis Buck's lifetime warranty policy???

I guess the same way Buck does now with the AG 110. Actually, I don't think scratches on the coatings should count as a warranty issue.

Anyway, I know this topic is a old one and its like kicking a dead horse but the thought of D2 and 440C still intrigues me in particular.

WHAT?@! :eek:you got a 'chicken' decoder?
how much for it? ;):D

The industrial decoder can be quite expensive...

Luckily, there are pocket decoders which are quite reasonable in price...

mmmm, Flatlander I think Chickentrax was meaning something else there. DM

OK, I missed it...so what was Trax saying this time. I've spent all my play money on Buck knives so I can't afford one dem ole decoder machines.

You guys are too much. Flatlander, I thought he meant if a non-stainless blade rusts out even from non use would Buck have to replace it because of their lifetime warranty. DM

Ahhh Yes. I get to wear the dunce cap. Well that would be a problem. 1095 still makes fine blade material.

Of all those blade options (concidering what's already in my collection) I'd be selecting D2 for the next couple of CS110s and then 440C.

I would love the 110 in 1095 also. With care it would age nicely. As far as the warranty goes. Wouldnt rust be considered abuse? Discoloration would be consider normal wear and tear. I only have a few 1095 blades but I love them. If Buck came out with something 1095 I would grab it in a heartbeat.

A 110 in D2.....is there such an animule around anywhere?

Of all the nib's I have laying around, the D2 steel ones are the sharpest. The BG42 next. Maybe Buck just paid extra attention to those.

I think of all the various versions of the 110 showing up, a 110 with a D2 blade intrigues me the most. I would have to break down and buy one if it ever came to pass.

This is where the custom shop needs to broaden its options.

110, D2, NS, No Pins, Finger Grove, Rubber Handles. Yeah....would be a user.
