Any opinions on the old heavier Billabong boomerang vs the lighter current design? Im on the fence over which to purchase. I'm guessing the current version is easier to throw, but at what expense of impact power?

I keep one of the old, heavy boomerangs in the trunk of my vehicle. I use it to hammer and break branches to get my kids' toys and balls out of trees, and it does the job well. For this application, heavier is better both in overall impact and damage resistance. When I throw it at something, I want it to go "ouch" and fall down, and enough limbs have dropped from it that I check for park service employees before throwing. Get the heavy, and sand off a few ounces if you don't like it.
