CS Canadian Belt - what tang??

Despite having much more expensive solid high tech knives and some ambiguity to CS, I rather like the design of the Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife. I am comfortable with the synthetic hilts having several from Fallkniven

The Canadian is rather like the Grohman knives - practical in multiple uses including food prep. Looks like a good picnic knife, weekender design - good for slicing dicing and spreading

It arrived -
Quite sharp the skin test got a decent bead of blood with no effort or pain.

It feels surprising robust and heavier than expected. I thought it would be more like the little Victornix kitchen knives.

Does anyone know what sort of tang it has under the plastic hilt?

I assume it is some form of non full length, stick hilt... But it may be bigger and more robust than expected from the surprising weight.

On first glimpse I am more impressed than expected

It's got a pretty heavy duty tang in there. :)

Remember CS knives tend to be overbuilt for strength. :D

It's a rat tail tang, I believe. Haven't really put mine through the ropes yet, but it certainly does a nice job with slicing meats.

Like the Grohman knives? It is an exact COPY. That aside, I don't know about the CBK, but the Finn Bear has a half tang. If the CBK is anything like the Finn Bear, and they are identical in material, I imagine it has the same kind of tang.

Thanks all

Didn't think it was an exact copy of the Grohman - will have to look again

I have the finn bear too - but the handle really disagrees with me, while the roach belly is fine

So it sounds like it ia probably a half length rat tail of reasonable thickness. Sounds like many of the Mora's

Don't suppose anyone has x rayed one like they have for the Mora's???
