CS chisa katana

Handled a model from a few years ago.
It's heavy for the length, but decently balanced. Pretty tough too, though it lacked the aesthetic characteristics some would expect from "japanese samurai swords" - both the ugly cheap Chinese knock-offs and the better quality production swords (usually, also from China).

Probably would be a pretty decent cutter once you get used to it - a friend on SFI says you just point and swing and it cuts quite well. Just note, it's probably somewhat hard to stop once you really get it going... so some basic knowledge of cutting safety (including first aid, cutting technique, etc) is recommended.

Check this site for a pretty nice remount:

I have one. Polished it up and it is scary sharp. Like a big machete, a tool not to be messed with.

I like the Chisa Katana a lot, especially for the money.

You should be able to find plenty of dealers online who are selling it for well beneath what CS offers it for.

I also have a Chisa that is scary sharp. I had to send the first one they sent me though because the handle was poorly made, but CS stood by their produst. Curlery Shoppe has them on special for jsut over 200$

The blade is nice, but heavy. The Tsuka and Tsukamaki have been horrible and I woul dare say potentially dangerous from the numerous copies I'v handled. More often than not the wood core has been cracked-through (improper drying??). A member of SFI had one re-handled and it turned out beautifully.

It's been so long...I'd suggest searching SFI's forum using, "Chisa" in the search box
