How easy do these get cut up by carrying the knife? My recently acquired CS Desperado (thanks to Blackdog for the toy), seems to be cutting into the concealex. Has anyone ever had a blade actually cut through the concealex sheath? I'm thinking about getting a leather one for it and testing to see if that would work better. Anyone here make affordable leather sheaths?

You raise a good point, my inscrutable Asian friend. My Desperado has worn away the section of sheath that holds the knife in, and now drops out quite easily. Hasn't gone through, but has definitely made the sheath pretty much useless for carry.

Until I got my Lynn Griffith large patrolman, I carried my Desperado for about 2 years EVERY day. I took it in and out of it's sheath a rediculous amount of times. It is now very loose in the sheath and will fall out if turned upside down and shaken slightly. However, it is in absolutely no danger of cutting through the sheath and still carries safely IWB.

When A friend of mine received his, it was so loose it would fall right out if turned upsidedown. He carried his for a long time without EVER having any problems.

With the length and shape of the blade, there is no way that this knife could come out of it's sheath on it's own. Unless it is turned completely upside down. I don't think your body will be upside
down very often

IMHO this is by far the best "defensive" production knife for IWB concealed carry.

The sheath should not let you down.

Hey Guys...

Cutting into the Concealex is a pretty normal thing..
It happens to all sheaths,, some less than others though...

I put a mouth or a ramp on most of my sheaths to help with resheathing problems...
It still happens, although none of mine have cut their way through yet...

The cutting of the sheath happens when the blade is not centered into the sheath properly when resheathed and is somewhat twisted as it goes in...

This is pretty hard to correct...
Remember that Synthetics have Very tight tolerences and there isn't much room for a twisted knife as it goes into the sheath...

One way I tell my customers to correct this problem is to drop the knife into the sheath and wiggle it slightly side to side as you resheath the blade.

The dropping in of the knife will in some cases let it find it's seat and the wiggle will spread the Concealex slightly allowing it to be seated all the way down.

It's something that you propably won't get away from, and as long as the blade hasn't cut all the way through and Fit isn't a problem it should be just fine.

This shaving as I call it should stop once the blade has found it's own track into the sheath...

Hope this helps...

ttyle Eric...

Problem is the concealex is relatively thin... I've noticed it is worse with serrated knives that with plain edge. Thanks for the help, anyone know where I can get a leather sheath though?

Hello Comrade Chang,
I offer custom made leather sheaths, made from tough 8-9oz Water Buffalo hides. My prices are based on the knife's blade length. Starting at $10.00 per inch for plain sheaths, up to $15.00 per inch for deluxe, which have Python skin inserts or overlays. You can see examples of my work at my Web-site, drop by for a visit.
Hope to hear from you soon.
