Rec. this Espada today when I arrived home from a long putt to the southern tier to see my ma and brother. Initial impressisons only are that this is the BIGGEST BADDEST FOLDER I have ever owned. I am quite at a loss for an accurate description on how I would rate this thing. QC is very good, blade sharpness is excellant, weight is right up there, blade centering perfect, lock up outstanding. The handle scales are really done well as for how they fit on the liners. Truthfully a very well made folder well worth the dough I dropped on it me thinks. But the thing is BIG. I don't know how on earth I will be able to edc this thing. Bolsters and G10 are dove tailed too to a hair line fit. The grinds on the blade are perfect too. Very sharp and crisp and very precise. I'll post pics later but right now I am just opening and closing it kind of flabbergasted. keepem sharp

Just got mine the other day and it is a big pretty well made folder like you said very tight lock up and for a prouduction knife finish is good. Not quite on par with a talwar or black sable but I was pleased. I am interested in Navaja and this one is the nicest one I have come across . I have a spanish made one that is of high quality and the espada is built much better. All it is missing is the racheting sound but I would not trade the lock on the cs version for a weaker racheting style . It is kind of a novelty but I am quite pleased. Try in the waist band carry behind your hip carried it the other day that way was very comfortable and no one noticed it till I pulled it out caught the wave on my pants and it snapped open and peoples mouths dropped. quite impresive. might be the next best thing to carrying a good fixed blade.

I've had it in my right pocket of my jeans and truthfully it doesn't seem so bad for carrying like that. It hugs the back of the pocket seam and lies flat with no undue flopping around. I noticed a couple of screws sticking through the scales slightly but no where near the blade. The pivot pin is huge on it too. It also waves open very easily almost accidentally easy. IT closes very well too with about the last half inch being automatic it seems.

I had trepidations when first buying it. I was after Caledonian and it was about 60 bucks more so decided on the Espada lg. One thing that is cool is that the bolsters are integral to the liners and the dovetail is done very well. It appears the rear pommel is slightly dovetailed to and that is integrally made as well. I know there are some big folder lovers on the forum here and to me this would fulfill the requirement for them I would think. Pics will follow but maybe tomorrow as frankly just don't feel like messing with the camera. keepem sharp

I just received mine as well, and I have to agree with you guys, I'm also very impressed with the large Espada. Cold Steel has put some really nice folders on the market in the last couple of years. I wrote up my thoughts on the Espada (with a few pics) in the Knife Reviews & Testing sub-forum.

Now that they are available, I'll have to pick one up. Handled the Espadas at Blade and was very impressed. I've "got a thing" for big blades :)
