I have some questions about these knives. I know about the controversy's with cold steel and I don't want to spark any arguments over designs and such. All I want to know is which of these knives are going to fit my tasks the best. Ok, which of these knives would make a better knife for military use? I have the schrade schf3 and I love it, but the sheath is a joke because the retention strap uses a simple snap that comes undone easily ( check out the link below to look at the sheath). I like the tanto for it's sheath ( retention without a strap) but I am iffy on buying a made in china knife. Is the schrade schf3 made in usa? I havn't been able to find any info on that aspect of the knife. The tanto is ever so slightly big for my tasts, but may get the job done. Besides being used for last line of defense, which of these blades would fit that role as well as general utility and survival purposes. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not familiar with either, but I'll give you my 2 cents. Have you considered the Cold Steel SRK? You get better steel than either of the two original knives you are considering, a more comfortable handle, a very strong tip design, better sheath, and a length closer to what you want. It is about $20 more expensive than the Schrade, though. The belt loop was designed with input from the Navy Seals who issued it for Basic Underwater Demolition Training.
