Can anyone tell me what CS Hawks come with the set screw in the head now? I know the trail hawk does, do the other traditional hawks too? Thanks

Trail Hawk, Rifleman's Hawk, Frontier Hawk all come with the set screw. Vietnam Hawk does not. Not sure about the others, but I'd guess the Norse Hawk would, as well--just a guess, however.

Thanks JD, I will have to check them out. I kinda like the idea on a chopper but not a thrower.

You could always take out the set screw.

Yeah, my point was I had often thought about drilling and tapping one of mine to keep the head on when I grab it out of the truck to use it to chop something. I didn't know they all came with one.

my friend just got a war hammer that had a place in the head for a set screw but it did not come with one. he purchased it from cutleryshoppe.com and they said it was probably going to be discontinued like the other medieval weapons

I believe my riflemans hawk did as well.

Yup, and when I did mine up (stained the handle/decorated with some tacks/sanded down and stained head with gun blue), I added some duct tape were the head sits on the shaft (hidden). Then I snugged the set screw up biting tight and squeezed clear liquid silicone into any open cavity between the head and handle shaft. I let this dry for a week. Now I can chop trees down and the head stays dead tight in the shaft. When I had just had the set screw tightened, the whole thing would loosen up. With invisible silicone filling all the internal voids, she's tight, sweet and stays that way. I do not throw my hawk though, it's more of a bush tool for me.

My Norse hawk has one as well. I rather like it as it makes for a more secure hold.

As bush tool: if the screw is set in, and the middle of choppin...the handle breaks.
Even it's easy to make new improvise handle for replacement.
How you accomplish to take the screw out for the replacement?
Sorry guys it's bothering me.
