I just got a plainsmans hawk today. It is soaking to swell we wood right now. Is there anything special I should do to it afterwards? I dont want to ruin it. Thanks

My Norse hawk arrived with a wobbly head...would this help?
What are you soaking it in?
TIA,

I've been reading up on CS 'hawks on BladeForums and elsewhere and have a couple of questions for you guys who recently bought them.

1. Do they still come with the word "Taiwan" stamped into one side of the head?

2. If you've tried sharpening them with a file, does the file bite into the metal easily or is the metal difficult to sharpen (file)?

Thanks.

I was told to soak it in water when I got it to tighten it up. A few hours did it for mine.

Mine says "Tiawan".

Soaking in water is at best a temporary solution. A wedge tapped into a slot cut in the handle is the best way to make sure the handle fits the socket, and a pin crosswise through the head and handle is good insurance. Suggest you try soaking with tung oil or linseed oil. Let it dry before throwing (slippery grips are dangerous).
