CS Kobun and other tanto boot knife suggestions

Lately I'm considering a CS Kobun as a tanto fixed blade as a boot / concealed carry knife. I know the 4116 Krupp isn't spectacular but for the price I don't mind.

What I'm concerned about is if its got a full tang or not. I'm getting conflicting info and maybe some Kobun owners can clear this up.

And do you know of any other small fixed blade tantos that I can consider instead of the Kobun?

I just got one and still don't know if it is full tang but I believe it is, it feels like they just covered the tang with the kraton. It makes a great IWB knife but might be too big to use as a boot knife.

Yes it is a full tang...just past the lanyard. It is a hair big for a "boot" knife IMO but works wonderfully IWB.

Great knife for the money and should serve you well.

Just a note: I know it is a full tang. A few years ago I wanted to cord wrap one so I cut the Kraton off of an old one I had laying around.

I have one I have been using for years. It is sturdy enough, should work ok as a boot knife, although the sheath is a bit wide for slipping down a boot. It would work on cowboy boots I think, but would then be a bit hard to get your pant leg up over the boot.

look at the Gerber Guardian Back Up its about the same $ and it comes with a clip.might make a good" Back Up"/boot knife.

great knife for the money. got one in aus8 with an on/scene tactical owb sheath, comfortable and handy

I have a CS Kobun in Aus8, great knife, my wife use it for kitchen !!! It's a simple but usefull knife but it's not so easy to carry because the size. If your are in plan to have it for EDC I suggest you the Voyager or Gunsite series, made with VG-1 steel (awesome edge retention) available with serration (better for SD IMO). Another awesome bootknife from CS is the Counter-tac 1 but it's a chisel grind dubble edge knife. By far my favorite boot knife today !!!!

just my 2 cent ;)
