I have no sheath making skills but am in search of a quality replacement sheath for my Cold Steel Magnum Kukri.

The sheath it comes with is complete crap.

Idealy, it would have some sort of MOLLE attachment capability for attaching to the side of my pack.

I don't have a kydex/leather preference.

What do you guys suggest?

Google and searches on this site have turned up nil.
 
I am in the same damn boat.

Searching for a real sheath for this kukri machete magnum from CS and I found your post....

that's never a good thing when all searches show up more posts searching.

I'm going to have to make a sheath i guess....dammit.

Why can't CS offer a sheath that isn't junk?

I'd be ripping pissed if I paid the $12 CS wants for this thing.
 
The reason you arent finding much about new sheaths is that a leather or kydex rig for a $25 dollar khukuri like object is most likely going to cost several times more than the blade itself. Unless you buy cheap leather and do it yourself. Most just throw the sheaths away and don't worry about one. You get what you pay for. YMMV.

This is the absolute truth. You're going to be looking at TWICE what you paid for the KLO as a starting point and working your way yup. There really isn't a point in having a sheath custom made unless you don't mind the sheath costing considerably more than the blade it holds. If you hate the sheath it came with so much and don't want to learn the skills necessary to make a leather one, you can always do kydex (it's pretty easy to get a functional sheath with it, it's just making a NICE one that's hard), or have you considered flattening out some plastic (doesn't even have to be kydex, just rigid plastic) and making a sheath for it? I know there was a thread about it in W&SS for machetes.
 
I used the original sheath as a template and made one out of some bargain bin scrap leather.
Glue and rivets, couldn't see sewing this... for the little use it will get.
