CS Mini Tac: can I live without you?

Dear Friends,

I seem to have developed a crush on this new-for-2000 Cold Steel knife. Alas, it is a love from afar as I have only seen its catalog picture. But I am smitten with its overall shape and styling.

However, I do *not* own a single Cold Steel product as I have experienced first hand their pros and (mostly, for me) cons. So I am hesitant to rush out and order a Mini Tac preemptively. But my finger hovers over the "order" button....

So, has anyone handled one, yet?

I assume the sheath has no clip option as it is advertised as a neck knife. (and IMHO, the sheath seems unnecessarily wide.)

Any thoughts on this knife or advice about my crush is welcome.

I handled the Mini Tac at the SHOT Show. It's an interesting knife, ground from rather thin stock, suitable for a kitchen knife, with a lot of cool-looking angles about it. In my humble opinion, Cold Steel has made an excellent picnic knife, portable steak knife, or Hobbit-size chef's knife. The edge drops below the handle, for cutting board work, and the secondary point helps keep the rest of the edge away from a china plate. And if you had to make somebody let go of you . . . It would probably work for that too.

Looks like their oversized Hai Hocho with a tanto blade. Just from pics it seems that it's blade has just a bit of belly that may make it useful.

My experiences with CS have been very positive (you could tell if you read my other posts). Mini Tac looks way neato and I want one too (maybe get on for my sis).

24 bucks at wholesalehunter.com.

If you get one, give me the message so I can get your opinions.
