Anyone have any experience with this knife?
How do you like the 440A steel? I really like the looks of this knife, and am a looking to retire my well worn Voyager. I like the wider blade on the Night Force and the higher grind. I think the Voyager is AUS8A. This steel has performed well for me and I was wondering if the 440A would be any improvement.
The two things I don't like abou the Night Force is that it has no lanyard hole (but I may be able to remidy that) and I don't care for the teflon coated blade. I hope I can disassemble it, and remove the blade coating with some paint remover. In the picts, it looks like the pivot pin is removable?
Any thoughts?
I was considering the CRKT Falcon, but don't know if the AUS6 will be durable enough for me. I also prefer tip up carry.
I do like the looks of the Trakk'r, but it guess it is on hold...
Thanks,

uhm
teflon is polytetrafluoroethylene, and is extremely inert
the reason why they use it to line stuff is cos it resists external influences very well due to extremely strong intermolecular forces of attraction
that translates to no, you won't be able to use paint remover to do anything to it
a LOT of sanding might be able to take care of it, but i think an easier alternative might be to ask CS to make one without the teflon coating, no?

I was the one who started that thread several days ago, regarding removing the black coating, and have since talked to Russell at CS customer service. He told me that he did not know whether some type of stripper would remove the coating. He also said, when asked, that the coating is not teflon, as several on the forum have indicated. He said it was epoxy. We were talking about the Recon Scout. That's all I know as I haven't yet tried stripper on mine.

I receiveda reply to a post awhile
back about the CS "Scimitar";) A forumite recommended the CS "Night force" as an alternative (less expensive ;)) If I were slill in the
Army (rotated out in '83') I'd probably carry something like the "Night force" in SE ( or a Spyderco Mili CE -or- The SOG Pentagon Elite
( I love "dagger type" blade(s);))

AET ;)
