I would love to see CS bring back the 4" Vaquero in a "Hybrid" version -- 4.75", Serrated and PE and weighing in under 5 oz. in VG-10, 440C, or even Elmax.

Perhaps a choice of Steels, one higher end and one in AUS-8A and priced accordingly, or maybe just something better than AUS-8A like 440C or just VG1 And maybe more aggressive serrations as well. I think a knife like that would sell like crazy.

I would buy at least two, serrated and PE

To keep the weight down, CS can use drilled liners.

Use the same handle as the 4", but put a little "tail" on it to accommodate the extra .75" of steel.

Cold Steel seem to be moving to CTS BD1 for their lower/mid range knives (like the Voyager) and CTS XHP for their higher end (like the Recon).

From descriptions BD1 seems to be similar to AUS8 in taking a very sharp edge easily, but appears to have better edge retention.

I doubt that they'll redo the 3" and 4" Vaqueros (I have the plain and serrated versions of each), but I'm sure the 5.5" will be out in stonewashed BD1 next year.

Thanks for the info. I already have a 5.5 serrated Vaquero in AUS-8A and don't care for it much as it's a bit heavy.

I would like to see the "Hybrid" that I described. Maybe next year.

The 4" Vaquero fits my hand like a glove. I have two, one serrated and one PE. I may buy another serrated as that is my EDC and it would be tough to replace in the future as CS doesn't make them anymore.

I may buy another one, but my Spyderco Civi is going to be my new EDC/SD knife if the P.O. ever delivers it.

If you like it that much, it's not a bad idea to pick up a second one now with them being discontinued.

I mean, imagine trying to pick one up in a few years at the crazy prices DC'ed Cold Steels go for.
